Job summary

NKC Health in Missouri is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join our primary care team. You will provide healthcare under physician direction, assess and treat patients, and collaborate with physicians and staff to empower hope and healing in our community.

The role requires a Master's in nursing, Missouri NP/ACNP certification, 2+ years of clinic experience, and current BLS. Hours are typically M-F, with occasional after-hours coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in nursing and maintain board/association certification.
• Licensed by Missouri as a Registered Nurse to practice as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
• 2 years’ experience as Nurse Practitioner in clinic specialty.
• Current BLS through American Heart Association.
• Basic office skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide healthcare and perform selective medical services under physician direction.
• Assess, diagnose, and treat patients.
• Assist physicians by increasing patient volume, monitoring high risk patients, and following up on test results.
• Develop cost-aware care plans, order diagnostics, and coordinate referrals.
• Organize patient care and improve clinical processes and staff education.

What are the typical hours on the job?

The hours of operation for the Primary Care clinic are Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Your primary schedule will be during those hours, with periodic need to work outside your schedule to serve our patients.

What does a Nurse Practitioner do?

Nurse Practitioners provide healthcare and perform selective medical services under the direction of physicians.

What does a typical day on the job look like?

• Competently assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients.
• Assists physicians by maximizing patient volume, monitoring and contacting high risk patients, returning patient calls in a timely manner, and providing follow up on diagnostic test results.
• Develops with the patient and/or caregivers, a mutually acceptable cost-aware plan of care that maximizes health potential. Formulates a treatment plan which includes ordering diagnostic tests, selecting appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, develops a patient education plan, and obtains appropriate consultation or referral. Consults with physician appropriately regarding patient care issues and concerns.
• Demonstrates productivity and initiative by organizing patient care, delegating to appropriate staff, prioritizing workload, and seeking opportunities to improve clinical processes and staff/patient education.

What are the requirements for the job?

• Master’s degree in nursing and maintain board/association certification
