We are seeking a Full Time Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team
- NP must have critical care experience.
- Strong hospital-based experience is required, preferably as a Hospitalist NP or in a similar inpatient role.
- Candidates with prior critical care RN and/or NP experience are strongly preferred.
- This position will work exclusively in the hospital setting.
- The schedule will cover 7 days on and 7 days off
- This is a salaried position
- The NP will provide coverage at both our campuses: River Oaks and East Houston
This position plays a very important role in the quality of service provided to our patients within the community allowing their continued access to care.
The ideal candidate will be skilled to perform physical exams, order the appropriate diagnostics to determine correct patient diagnosis, evaluate clinical data, consult with our medical team, and provide appropriate treatments and patient education, to overall help direct and manage the patient's care.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists Medical Director in developing clinical practice guidelines.
- Participates in provider and medical care team meetings.
- Establishes positive relationships with local medical community and attends local medical society functions.
- Interviews patients to obtain history, performs physical examinations, order lab and other tests, prescribe medications and treatments.
- Provide continuity in managed care for patients with pre-existing long term problems.
- Make referrals for secondary and tertiary care.
- Perform medical procedures according to privileges issued.
- Provide health maintenance visits, evaluate for immunizations and provide anticipatory guidance & referrals
- Preform Exams, evaluate clinical data
- Order and study diagnostic tests (blood tests, X-rays etc.)
- Diagnose & inform patients of health conditions based on accurate and useful diagnostic testing
- Prescribe treatment plans, consult with our MD and clinic Team
- Preform treatments (injections, stress testing, etc.)
- Maintain accurate records, schedules and documentation for patient care
- Educate patients on types of treatments and prevention options
- Oversee patients’ overall health, promote good health practices
REQUIREMENTS
- 1+YRS experience as Nurse Practitioner in a clinic, hospital, ER or other setting
- Two (2) years’ experience as a Nurse Practitioner in the hospital setting preferred.
- American Heart Association BLS is required.
- Primary care: 1 year (Preferred)
- Prescribing: 1 year (Preferred)
EDUCATION
- Bachelors Degree required
- Masters Degree preferred
CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE
- Licensed, Certified Nurse Practitioner (Required) (licensed to practice in Texas)
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to Recognize emergent or urgent situations requiring escalation and take appropriate action as specified in policies, and as determined by reasonable professional judgment and ethical professional practice standards.
- Ability to perform, document, and communicate results of Point of Care (POC) Testing.
- Adhere to all confidential and HIPAA requirements as outlined within AD’s Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position.
- Ability to write concise, legible documentation in patient’s medical record. Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures. Rhythm recognition, knowledge of medical terminology and abbreviations.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing. Ability to work with other members of the healthcare team to meet patient’s needs.
- Ability to interact in a positive manner and to communicate well with patients, families, coworkers, employees, supervisors and other hospital employees.

Working Conditions, MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Lifting objects in excess of fifty (50) pounds with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds.
- Ability to stand on non-carpeted, composite surfaces for extended periods of time, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl, reach, use fine finger movement, speak and hear.
- Ability to walk long distances on a regular basis. Indoor climate controlled, well lighted and well ventilated.
- May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions needed to be taken is essential.
- Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced and required by patient care and needs of the surgical team.
- Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to the requirement of patient care.
