VitalCore Health Strategies is seeking a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) to provide ambulatory and urgent care services at Broward Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Fort Lauderdale and Miami-Dade Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Miami, FL. The role operates PRN and will involve working within a correctional environment under physician supervision.

• APRN licensure in Florida is required.
• Active CPR certification is required.
• Graduate of an accredited college/university with APRN credential.

• Respond to and initiate care for medical emergencies in the facility.
• Prescribe treatment under physician supervision.
• Provide education to inmates/patients, healthcare staff, and correctional staff.
• Document all healthcare contacts and maintain accurate records.
• Adhere to safety, security policies, and infection control practices.

POSITION SUMMARY

The APRN utilizes the medical model to meet a variety of healthcare needs with ambulatory care as their primary focus. The APRN works with a variety of healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional environment and provides basic medical services supervised by a licensed Physician.

APRN POSITION SUMMARY

• Will be required to work within a correctional facility.
• Responds to and initiates care for medical emergencies throughout the facility.
• Identifies inmate /patient health problems and prescribes treatment under direction of a physician.
• Implements medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a Physician.
• Provides education to inmate/patient, healthcare, and correctional staff.
• Documents all healthcare contacts.
• Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills. Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, andcontrolled medications.
• Assigns tasks to team members as needed.
• Adheres to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices.
• Attends training and meetings as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Graduate of an accredited college / university with current certification / licensure as an APRN in the state of employment.
• Must hold the required annual licensure and credentialing requirements for their specific mid-level provider credentials.
• Maintain an active CPR certification.
