Job summary

Prism Health seeks a Nurse Practitioner to lead clinical teams across mobile clinics serving Chicago-area students and communities. This PRN role performs vaccines, exams, screenings, and education at school-based events and community sites.

Role requires active IL NP license, BLS, and COVID-19 vaccination; experience with EMR and mobile settings is preferred. Flexible scheduling supports event calendars and ASAP start.

Qualifications

  • Active Illinois Nurse Practitioner license required.
  • BLS certification must be current.
  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 required.
  • Experience with EMR systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and administer vaccines at school-based events.
  • Conduct school, sports, and general physical exams.
  • Perform preventive health screenings (BP, glucose, cholesterol) during events.
  • Collect specimens and perform phlebotomy and vital signs as needed.
  • Review immunization records in EHR and identify missing requirements.
  • Provide vaccines, screenings, and preventive care education to patients and families.
  • Refer patients for additional evaluation when needed.
  • Lead orientation and onboarding of clinical staff.
  • Oversee Medical Assistants and assist with performance reviews.

Job Type: PRN

Location: Mobile community health events throughout the Chicago area

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Oversight & Patient Care
  • Prepare and administer school-required and other approved vaccines.
  • Conduct school, sports, and general physical examinations.
  • Perform preventive health screenings, including blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, and other event-specific testing.
  • Collect patient specimens and perform procedures such as phlebotomy, nasal swabs, and vital-sign assessments, as required.
  • Review immunization histories, medical records, consent forms, and patient information in the electronic health record system.
  • Identify missing immunizations or health requirements and explain recommended next steps to patients and families.
  • Provide patient education regarding vaccines, screening results, preventive care, and healthy lifestyle practices.
  • Answer patient and parent questions regarding services, results, follow-up care, and treatment recommendations.
  • Refer patients for additional medical evaluation or follow-up when needs fall outside the services available at the event.
Staff Leadership & Education
  • Assess, plan, and implement competency assessments and continuing education
  • Lead orientation and onboarding of new clinical staff
  • Conduct in-services and protocol trainings
  • Oversee Medical Assistants and provide backup support as needed
  • Provide input on staff performance reviews and corrective action plans
  • Stay current with clinical literature and evolving public health guidance
  • Implement process improvements aligned with organizational goals

  • Spanish-speaking ability preferred (not required)
