Job summary

UF Health is seeking a Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) in Florida to provide nursing care across perioperative phases. The RN maintains accountability for assigned patients and may act as charge nurse when assigned, under the Nurse Manager’s supervision.

Position requires Florida licensure, BLS and ACLS, with PALS within six months of hire; BSN within three years for new hires. Fellowship nurses have specific ACLS/PALS timelines as noted.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• New hires effective June 14, 2017 must have a BSN degree within three years of hire or transfer.
• Current employees hired or transferred before Aug 1, 2013 will be grandfathered.

Overview

The Perioperative Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients in select phases of Perioperative care (as competency demonstrates). This care utilizes the nursing process and the standards of care of a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and functions as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/ tasks may be delegated to Surgical Technologists, Patient Care Associated, Guest Associates and Anesthesia Technologists. Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, the RN manages individualized, goal directed nursing care through use of the nursing process and the principles of primary nursing in accordance with departmental and hospital policies and procedures
