Job summary

MU Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Nurse, OR/Recovery to join our surgical team at University Hospital in Columbia, MO. The role emphasizes patient-centered care, teamwork, and clinical excellence with responsibilities across pre-, intra-, and post-operative care.

The position requires MO RN licensure (or multi-state Compact) and at least 1 year of RN experience, with four 10-hour shifts (6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.) and on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• Must have RN license in Missouri or multi-state compact; must transfer if residency changes.
• Minimum of 1 year RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for assigned patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care by assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for an assigned group of patients.
• Educate patients, families, the community, and health professionals as appropriate.
• Report pertinent observations to physicians, the head nurse, the charge nurse, or nursing supervisor and document observations accurately and concisely.
• Maintain standards of nursing care and follow hospital and department policies and procedures.
• Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement activities.
• Participate in nursing research as appropriate.
• Provide quality care and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure patient satisfaction.
• May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

Qualifications

Required

• Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN; if residency changes, compact RNs must apply under the new state within 30 days.
• One (1) year of RN experience.

Preferred

• Participation in a professional nursing organization.
• Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

Facility and Schedule

Facility: University Hospital - 1 Hospital Drive, Columbia, MO

Shift: Four 10-hour shifts, 6:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Rotating weeknight, weekend, and holiday call.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base Pay Range: $34.46 to $51.02 per hour, based on experience
• Sign-On Bonus: $20,000
• Retention Rewards: Up to $15,000 for UH OR eligible
• Relocation Support: $5,000 if moving from more than 50 miles
• Retention Reward (Option 1): $2,000 per year for up to 5 years (totaling $10,000)
• Student Loan Repayment (Option 2): $2,000 per year for up to 5 years (totaling $10,000)
