Job summary

OU Health’s Interventional Radiology VIR Lab seeks a Nurse Navigator to advocate for patients, educate families and coordinate comprehensive care across the treatment continuum. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely documentation, orders and communication, while delivering high-quality nursing care in a patient-centered manner.

The role emphasizes collaboration, clinical expertise and staff development within OU Health’s culture of Patients First, Integrity and Excellence.

Qualifications

  • RN license current in Oklahoma or multi-state (eNLC)
  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of patient care experience in acute care setting

Responsibilities

  • Advocate, educate and counsel patients and families as part of the multidisciplinary team
  • Coordinate patient care across the continuum with clinicians and support staff
  • Ensure proper orders and authorizations are documented and accurate
  • Serve as a clinical resource for care management and education

Position Title: Nurse Navigator - VIR Lab Department: Interventional Radiology
Job Description: General Description

Under limited direction, functions on the multidisciplinary team as an advocate, interpreter, educator and counselor for patients. Essential Responsibilities
  • Responsible for ensuring all patients in assigned area receive quality and comprehensive care.
  • Coordinates patient care throughout the continuum of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Ensures proper documentation (Orders and Authorizations) are available and correct for each individual patient.
  • Serves as a clinical resource for care management.
  • Provides expert nursing care which includes direct clinical practice, consultation, education and research.
  • Uses clinical expertise and management skills to direct patient/family education and services to ensure the delivery of high quality care in the most family-centered, efficient and economical manner.
  • Communicates with all members of the team on behalf of the patient.
  • Works in collaboration with internal and external interdisciplinary team members to achieve excellence patient service throughout the plan of care.
  • In collaboration with the management team, is responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting staff development related to patient/family education and quality patient care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate's of Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).

Experience:

  • 3 years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse in the acute care setting.

License(s)/Certification(s)/Registration(s) Required:

  • Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC)).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of nursing theory, practices, techniques, procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of the principles of supervising staff.
  • Skill in planning and organizing nursing care, applying advanced nursing clinical skills, maintaining records and charts, and preparing written reports.
  • Skilled in maintaining effective working relationships with others.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
