Job summary

Inova Schar Cancer Institute in Fairfax seeks an Oncology Nurse Navigator to guide cancer patients and families through the care continuum. This exempt, full-time role follows a day-shift schedule, typically Monday–Friday, with no weekend or holiday work at the Fairfax clinic.

The Navigator coordinates care, provides emotional support and connects patients to resources across the health system. As a key liaison, you will facilitate communication among doctors, nurses, and social services,

Qualifications

• BLS certification required; oncology certification within 2 years of hire.
• Virginia RN license in good standing.
• Minimum 3 years of progressive nursing experience in primary care management.

Responsibilities

• Guide patients and families through diagnosis, testing, treatment and follow-up.
• Advocate for patient rights and coordinate care across teams.
• Educate patients, provide emotional support and connect to community resources.
• Document care plans and ensure smooth discharge and post-care follow-up.
• Coordinate plan of care and refer to appropriate services as needed.
