Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing program.

• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience preferred.
• Prior inpatient Neurosurgery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with physician teams regarding the care plan for spine patients daily.
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds to optimize teammate communication for neurosurgical patients.
• Facilitate communication with physician teams regarding patient or nursing questions/concerns.
• Communicate with family members to ensure understanding of patient care during hospital stay.
• Coordinate with social workers/case managers for patient disposition.
• Assist with scheduling post-operative follow ups, wound checks, and outpatient imaging.

Requirements:

• Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the teammate practices
• Current BLS certification, ACLS preferred

• Prior inpatient Neurosurgery experience preferred

Position Details:

• Monday – Friday 7:00a – 3:30p
• Carolinas Medical Center - Main, 9 Tower

What You’ll Do:

• Coordinate withmultiplephysician teamsregardingthe careplanfor each spine patient daily
• In conjunction with providers, participatein multidisciplinary rounds on 9T tooptimizeteammatecommunicationfor our neurosurgical patients
• Facilitate communication with physician teamsregardingpatient or nursing questions/concerns
• Communicate with family members to ensure adequate understanding ofpatient’scare during hospitalcourse
• Coordinate with social workers/case managers toassistwith appropriate patient disposition
• Assistwith scheduling of post op follow ups, woundchecksand outpatient imaging

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Working knowledge of the components of quality and acute patient care needs.

Maintains clinical expertise to effectively manage physical, emotional, psychosocial and spiritual needs of patients throughout the care continuum.

Excellent analytical and interpersonal communication skills necessary to negotiate with families, patient, physicians, and third-party payers.

Demonstrated ability to work well with physicians and other professionals in a direct and positive manner.
