Job summary

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Midwife to provide comprehensive obstetric and intrapartum/postpartum care in a high-volume Labor & Delivery Unit in New York. You will manage antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients, perform deliveries, and participate in teaching and research activities.

The role requires NYRN and NY Midwifery licenses, prescriptive rights, and DEA registration, with a focus on patient safety and evidence-based care.

Qualifications

BSN required.
Masters degree required (or 4–6 years of satisfactory nurse-midwifery experience substituted for a Masters).
Current New York State license as a Registered Nurse required.
Current New York Midwifery License required.
Prescriptive rights by NYS Department of Education required.
DEA registration required.

Responsibilities

Manage antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum patients in Labor & Delivery per departmental protocols and obtain physician consultations as needed.
Take patient history, perform physical and pelvic exams, order diagnostics, provide counseling and teaching.
Manage labor and deliveries, including emergencies, with physician collaboration and appropriate consultations.
Perform and assist deliveries, cervical ripening, analgesia, anesthesia, and neonatal resuscitation as required.
Provide postpartum care and teaching, discharge planning, and coordination of postpartum follow-up.
Engage in education of healthcare learners, supervise clinical activities, and participate in evaluation of students.
