Description

The Nurse Manager of UH Health Family Care Center (UHHFCC) supervises and trains the medical support staff at the Clinic. Oversees the proper maintenance and use of medical supplies and equipment within the Clinic.

  1. Establishes medical support staff schedules, assigns duties, and provides guidance and instructions on policies, practices, and procedures.
  2. Triage patients and provide direct assistance to physicians and providers; manage patient care (referrals, specialty care, diagnostics, care coordination, etc.).
  3. Trains and guides support staff in continuous quality improvement, emergency situations, and execution of physician orders.
  4. Create goals and objectives for their department or facility and make sure they are met by the staff.
  5. Develops and implements Health Center policies and procedures, including clinical partner referral process and patterns.
  6. Facilitates and promotes effective team dynamics and teambuilding strategies within and between departments; participates and/or leads and facilitates department process improvements as needed.
  7. Establishes effective, two-way communication with staff, demonstrating active listening, requesting and acknowledging feedback, making equitable decisions, providing rationale when appropriate, and supporting organizational goals.
  8. Coaches staff to use efficient and effective communication to establish and maintain a team environment, and to include the patient and family as part of the team regarding their plan of care.
  9. Assist with implementation and management of the departmental Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system, ensuring effective policies and procedures are followed, and ensuring proper feedback and communication between departments, clinical faculty, staff, and students. Acts as the point of contact for all EMR related questions and issues within the department.
  10. Collaborates with Medical Director and other managers to investigate and resolve grievances and complaints from patients and staff.
  11. Orders and inventories medical supplies for the clinic and laboratory; facilitates repair of medical instruments; orders supplies for patient use.
  12. Orders and obtains vaccines; oversees record-keeping and administration of immunizations.
  13. Recruits, interviews, and provides orientation to new support staff.
  14. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical, or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed.

Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of directly job-related experience. Preferred: At least 2 years of direct Manager experience.
