The Nurse Manager collaborates with multiple professionals to support and coordinate the provision / management of patient care. This individual works closely with the Nursing Clinical Director, unit Dyad partner and staff in insuring that the Service/Unit setting maintains the highest standards of patient care and is responsive to the needs of the patient & family as well as the organization.

The Nurse Manager collaborates with multiple professionals to support and coordinate the provision / management of patient care. This individual works closely with the Nursing Clinical Director, unit Dyad partner and staff in insuring that the Service/Unit setting maintains the highest standards of patient care and is responsive to the needs of the patient & family as well as the organization.

Responsibilities

The Nurse Manager (NM) is responsible for the management of nursing practice and operations in the emergency department.

  • Responsible for the oversight of a 50-bed, level 2 emergency department with approximately 70K patient visits per year.
  • MSW Emergency Department offers services in pediatric, adult, neurology, maternal child health, and emergency care.
  • Responsible for the oversight of 1 Assistant Nurse Manager,120 FTEs
  • Work closely with bed management and throughput and other multidisciplinary teams
  • Utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care and implementation of new programs and processes, as needed.
  • Chairs department committees and participates in hospital committees as assigned.
  • Prepares and reviews operational reports and schedules to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Management of internal and external regulatory and survey requirements.
  • Staff Management, recruitment, retention, labor relations, employee performance evaluation, staff education, and staff schedules.
  • Performance/quality improvement projects, internal and external regulatory and survey requirements.
  • Maintenance of OMH/JCAHO Standards and implementation and evaluation of Quality Performance Initiatives.
  • Patient experience/satisfaction.
  • Oversight of the supply chain and unit budget
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Science with a major in nursing

Master?s degree in nursing or healthcare-related field or be enrolled in a program preferred

Experience Requirements

3 years minimum demonstrated clinical and nursing administrative expertise in the emergency department with experience as a Nurse Manager or Assistant Nurse Manager

Licensing And Certification Requirements (if Applicable)

Licensed as a registered nurse, Issuing Agency: Department of Health/Office of Professions in the state of New York.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Issuing Agency: AHA

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Issuing Agency: AHA

Compensation

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $115494 - $173241 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
