Job summary

North Tampa Behavioral Health Hospital in Wesley Chapel, FL, seeks a Nurse Manager to lead nursing operations at our adult facility. You will oversee staffing, quality of care, and regulatory compliance, partnering with DON/CNO and interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe, person-centered care.

The role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and a focus on patient safety, with responsibilities spanning resource planning, staff development, and performance improvement across units.

Qualifications

• BSN or higher strongly preferred.
• Current RN license in Florida required.
• Two to three years RN experience, with population-specific experience preferred.
• Prior house supervisor and administrative experience is desirable.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required.
• First aid may be required depending on state or facility.

Responsibilities

• Assists the DON/CNO with planning, directing and supervising nursing operations for assigned units.
• Oversee delivery of behavioral health nursing services with a focus on patient safety.
• Allocate nursing resources based on census and acuity; lead staffing decisions.
• Recruit, hire and train new staff; develop educational programs for the team.
• Develop and implement facility policies; prepare management reports on programs and quality initiatives.
• Provide direct care as needed and ensure cross-department collaboration.
• Serve as clinical and service resource to nursing staff and others.

Education

BSN or higher

RN license in FL

Two years RN experience

Three years RN experience

Experience as house supervisor

One year charge RN or administrative experience

Two years RN experience with target population

One year experience with the population

CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification

First aid may be required

Purpose Statement

Assists the DON/CNO with directing, planning, coordinating, monitoring and supervising the effective and efficient use of the operations of nursing for assigned units. Oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services in a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times. Collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments and administration to ensure that all residents’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and when they are not met, acknowledges and works to resolve customer complaints. Provide leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards. Recognizes that patient safety is a top priority.

• Anticipates and effectively manage changes in census and acuity and allocates nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed
• Role models expectations related to customer service and demonstrates a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety
• Accountable for the standard of care at the facility, providing consultations and expertise in the delivery of care to patient.
• Serve as a clinical and service resource to nursing staff and other staff as assigned.
• Manage the activities of staff, coordinating safe and appropriate care between departments and disciplines.
• Manage and evaluate work activities of nursing, technical, clerical, service or maintenance staff for the unit, work group and other facility staff as directed.
• Analyze information/situation to choose the best solution(s) to solve problems.
• Responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of new staff.
• Identify the educational needs of others and develop educational or training programs.
• Assist with the development and implementation of organizational policies and procedures for the facility.
• Prepare reports to inform management of the status and implementation of programs, services and quality initiatives of the unit.
• Perform administrative or managerial functions such as planning budgets and authorizing expenditures.
• Provide direct care as needed.

Other Functions

• Perform other functions and tasks as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skill Requirements

• BSN or higher strongly preferred
• Current registered nursing license in State of facility required
• Three years as a registered nurse strongly preferred
• Two years of registered nursing experience required
• Two years of prior experience as a registered nursing with patient population of the facility is preferred.
• One year of prior experience with the population required
• Prior experience as a house supervisor strongly preferred
• One year of charge RN or other administrative experience required.

Licenses/Designations/Certifications

• Current RN license as required by state.
• CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility.
