Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Manager RN MICU to lead our CVICU unit in Houston, TX. The role requires a BSN, Texas RN license, and relevant supervisory experience to deliver high-quality patient care in a dynamic environment.

The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree preferred, certification in specialty administration within six months, and ACLS/BCLS credentials. Strong leadership and interdisciplinary collaboration are essential to drive evidence-based

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or health related field highly preferred
  • Current State of Texas Professional Nursing License (RN) required
  • National certification in relevant specialty practice area and/or Administration within six months of hire.
  • Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire
  • Must have five years of nursing experience in CVICU strongly preferred
  • One year of supervisory experience in direct patient care activities as assistant nurse manager or charge nurse required

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
  • Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy
  • Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more
  • Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients
  • Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughly
  • Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures

Job Summary and Qualifications
