Job summary

Conemaugh Nason Medical Center in Roaring Spring, PA, is seeking an ED Nurse Manager (RN) to lead and coordinate nursing care in the Emergency Department. This full-time role involves day shift coverage (7 AM–3 PM) with occasional flexibility to meet department needs.

You’ll oversee staffing, policy implementation, quality improvement, budget management and interdepartmental collaboration, ensuring safe, high-quality patient care across the service line.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must hold a current registered nurse license in PA or a compact state.
  • ED Nurse Manager experience is preferred but not required for all cases.

Nurse Manager (RN) - Emergency Services (Nason Medical Center)Job Type:Full-time | primarily Monday-Friday, 7 AM - 3 PM (Daylight) with some rare flexibility depending on departmental or facility needs.

How you'll contribute

Responsible, either personally or through delegation, for the following:

  • Integrates the department/services into the organization's primary functions.
  • Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intra departmental services.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of services.
  • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide care/service.
  • Determines the qualifications and competence of department/service staff who provide patient care services and who are not licensed independent practitioners.
  • Continuously assesses and improves the performance of care and services provided.
  • Maintains quality control programs, as appropriate.
  • Orients and provides in-service training and continuing education of all persons in the department/service.
  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the department/service.
  • Participates in the selection of sources for needed services not provided by the department/service or the organization.
  • Utilizes the Five Pillars (People, Service Excellence, Clinical Excellence, Fiscal and Growth) to prioritize and facilitate departmental and organizational activities.

Participates to some degree in each of the following responsibilities:

  • Hires and Transfers - Interviews, selects, and provides for training of employees.
  • Layoff and Recall - Recommends reduction in employee complement and initiates action, notifies employee(s) if conditions meet specific criteria.
  • Promotes and Evaluates - Independently evaluates and determines work assignments and evaluates job performance, recognizes performances.
  • Suspends and Discharges - Exercises employee suspensions or discharges authority.
  • Assigns and Directs Work, Grants overtime; assigns & schedules.
  • Adjusts Grievances - Meets with employees to listen to and resolve employee issues and adjust grievances.
  • Disciplines - Implements disciplinary action.
  • Exercises Supervisory Authority - Develops and implements department and/or hospital policy; insures all employees are trained in policy; exercises discretion, independent of policy to insure proper function of department or sub department.
  • Performs organization strategic planning for all areas of responsibility by determining critical success factors and monitoring key performance indicators to ensure success.
  • Directs the overall operations, efficiency, fiscal management and strategic planning of the assigned departments in the service line.
  • Develops and monitors budgets.
  • Analyzes profit and loss statements.
  • Determines root causes of budget variances and responds appropriately.
  • Takes appropriate steps to continuously analyze and improve operations.
  • Directs strategic planning activities.

What we're looking forApplicants should hold a current nurse's license in the state of Pennsylvania or a current multistate license (MSL) from compact member states/territories. Additional requirements include:

  • Associate's degree is required, while a Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Basic Trauma Nurse Course (BTNC) or equivalent training (ATCN, TCRN, TNCC) obtained within 1 year of hire is required.
