Job Summary

Directs and supervises clinical functions and activities of the department or group of practices. Implements and interprets policies, standards, and regulations for personnel, patients, and families.

Accountabilities
  1. Partners with operational and physician leadership to make strategic decisions around clinical process, clinical workforce budget, and the purchase of clinical equipment. Utilizes nursing expertise to ensure these decisions are compliant with regulatory standards and organizational financial goals.
  2. Maintains personnel records for clinical team members in collaboration with operational leadership; assists with payroll, OSHA compliance, and other administrative functions as appropriate.
  3. Supervises clinical team members; directs the selection, performance appraisal, and work allocation of each team member.
  4. Develops and implements training for clinical team members in conjunction with the Education department; ensures correct onboarding procedures for new clinical staff; facilitates yearly competencies with clinical leads; cascades relevant clinical information to staff.
  5. Identifies patient and client needs; recommends or develops new programs and services to meet those needs; ensures delivery of quality services for outpatients, families, and visitors.
  6. Participates in hospital/medical staff committee meetings; acts as a liaison or representative of physician leadership; attends and serves on professional and civic organizations as a system representative.
  7. Directs activities related to department objectives; assists in establishing quality standards; collaborates on program development and quality improvement initiatives.
  8. Serves as a role model; applies management counseling skills; maintains good interpersonal relationships; promotes professional growth through affiliations.
Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

Includes direct and/or indirect supervision of employees, with responsibilities such as budget authority, hiring, termination, discipline, and performance appraisal. Considered part of the management staff with direct reports.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a healthcare-related field.

At least 3 years of experience in Nursing, with ambulatory experience preferred.

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

Licensed to practice as an RN in South Carolina.

Other Required Skills and Experience

Specialty experience and supervisory experience are preferred; certification in a specialty area is also preferred. Experience with patient equipment such as vitals, suction, and defibrillators is desirable.

In Lieu of

Acceptance of a nursing diploma or associate degree in Nursing if the applicant agrees to enroll in an accredited BSN or MSN program within one year and complete it within four years.

Grandfathered Status

Employees in this job title prior to May 1, 2021, are grandfathered from the BSN requirement.
