Job Summary and Qualifications

• Responsible for all departmental functions supporting hospital mission, vision, and goals.
• Identifies cost-effective systems considering business trends and resource availability.
• Establishes effective relationships with patients, physicians, staff, volunteers, and vendors.
• Manages fiscal and human resources within guidelines.
• Develops care plans based on RN assessments.
• Maintains all requirements to function as a staff nurse in Labor and Delivery during high census or minimal staffing periods.

Education/Experience

Qualifications include:

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school.
• Advanced degree preferred.
• At least five years of management experience, including personnel, payroll, budgets, and physician relations.
• Labor and Delivery experience required.
• Competency in L&D clinical practice.

Licensure/Certification

• Current RN license in Texas or a compact license.
• Current BLS certification from AHA or Red Cross.
• NRP certification within 3 months of hire.
• Completion or documentation of AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring Course within 1 year of hire.
