A leading hospital in Massachusetts is seeking a Nurse Manager to oversee the operations of clinical resources and ensure high-quality patient care. This role involves leadership of nursing supervisors, coordination with various departments, and direct accountability for patient care management. Candidates should possess a BSN and relevant nursing experience, with a preference for management experience.
The Nurse Manager of Clinical Resources oversee all Administrative Nursing Supervisors, and the Hospital Operations Center, particularly patient progression. Assesses available bed resource and current bed status and leads daily bed meetings. Communicates and discusses bed assignment with each Nurse Manager, Emergency Department staff, and others as needed. Coordinates with cardiac care nurse and/or the critical care nurse manager, when appropriate to expedite bed assignments and in-house transfer activity among the critical care units and medical/surgical units. Reviews Cath lab and OR schedules to anticipate and plan the next day’s admission/transfer bed request. Coordinates/communicates with management of Environmental and orders stat cleans to facilitate patent flow. Attends staff meetings to discuss new procedures and review current practices. Consistently demonstrates the ability to appropriately prioritize requests for admission and problem solve patient bed placement issues.
The Nurse Manager assumes responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the department. The Nurse Manager collaborates with the Director and leadership team as appropriate. The Nurse Manager communicates with other ancillary departments as necessary in an effort to maintain excellence in patient care. The Nurse Manager assumes 24-hour accountability for management of the department in conjunction with the Director. The Nurse Manager fills in as an active clinical nurse when the need arises and is responsible for delivery of patient care through the nursing process in accordance with standards of care and age specific category requirements
