The Manager of Clinical and Patient Education is responsible for education, coordination and evaluation of clinical and patient education programs and computer applications related to nursing and clinical allied health staff practice. This individual collaborates with Information Technology staff, informatics nurses, nurses, physicians, other disciplines and academic institutions to ensure that education needs, and issues related to nursing and patient care are communicated clearly and that education for effective nursing practice are developed, implemented and maintained. This manager must demonstrate knowledge of educational methods, systems design and be able to apply the principles of adult learning. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and assure that age-appropriate care is delivered for the population served. The Manager of Clinical and Patient Education supports leadership through activities that include development of staff, community involvement and participation in committees and research. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and the Scope and Practice for Nursing Professional Development provide the basis for practice. This role is eligible for TN sponsorship.
