Job summary

Horizon House, Inc. is seeking a Lead Psychiatric Nurse to supervise and train psychiatric nurses under the direction of the Director and a licensed professional team.

The role requires an RN licensed in PA with 1+ year in community mental health and 3–4 years of supervisory experience. The incumbent must maintain professional relationships and have strong organizational/analytical skills, with on-call and local travel as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications

The Lead Psychiatric Nurse may have a master's, bachelor's or associate degree in nursing, must be licensed as a registered nurse, and should have at least one year of work experience in a community mental health facility.

Board Certified Licensed RN in the State of PA.

At least 3-4 years of supervisory and/or management experience.

Skills and competence to establish supportive trusting relationships with persons with severe and persistent mental illnesses and respect for client rights and personal preferences in treatment are essential.

Comprehensive knowledge of psychiatric clinical and psychosocial rehabilitation practices.

Must be able and maintain effective professional relationships with associates in the Agency/community at large.

Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Team Oriented.

Must be available for scheduled emergency on-call service and have a valid driver's license for the state in which the program operates.

Scope

Frequent talking and listening.

May require verbal crisis intervention assistance in emergency situations.

Must be available for local travel.

Scheduling flexibility and possible on-call work are necessary.

May be required to report to work during emergencies including inclement weather.

Requires the ability to lift, carry, hold, kneel, reach, stack, stoop and bend, which may include direct interventions with participants.

Education

• Associates or better in Nursing.
• Bachelors or better in Nursing.
• Masters or better in Nursing.

Experience

• 1 year of Community mental health experience.
• 3-4 years of Supervisory experience.
