About The Role
Parkwest Medical Center is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager, Critical Care to lead a high-performing Critical Care Unit and support future growth initiatives, including Trauma and CVICU expansion. This leader will be responsible for the clinical, operational, and administrative management of the department, ensuring exceptional patient care, staff engagement, and operational excellence.
The Critical Care Unit is currently a 30-bed department, consisting of:
- 20 Medical, Surgical, Neurological, and Renal Critical Care beds
- 10 dedicated CVICU beds
This position offers the opportunity to lead a growing critical care service line while driving quality, patient outcomes, and staff development.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or ability to obtain Tennessee RN licensure.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- 3-5 years of recent Critical Care Nurse Management experience (required).
- Candidates without recent Critical Care leadership experience will not be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related healthcare field.
- Experience leading a CVICU and/or Trauma services.
- Strong background in staff development, retention, quality improvement, and operational leadership.
What You'll Do
Clinical & Operational Leadership
- Provide 24-hour accountability for the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care.
- Direct daily operations of the Critical Care department.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill mix to support patient care needs.
- Promote evidence-based practice and patient safety initiatives.
- Oversee nursing interventions, compliance, and clinical documentation.
Team Development
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff.
- Foster employee engagement, professional development, and retention.
- Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Financial & Administrative Management
- Develop and manage departmental budgets.
- Monitor operational performance metrics and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain departmental records, reports, and statistical data.
- Support strategic planning and departmental growth initiatives.
Collaboration & Quality
- Partner with physicians, nursing leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes.
- Facilitate communication between clinical departments and ancillary services.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives aligned with organizational goals.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
