Bring your clinical expertise and informatics experience to a role where nursing practice, technology, and enterprise transformation converge.

The Nurse Informaticist will join UVA Health’s newly centralized Nursing Informatics department, helping translate complex clinical workflows into technology solutions that improve care delivery and the clinician experience.

This highly visible role offers the autonomy to influence informatics strategy across inpatient, ambulatory, community, and specialty environments while helping build the future of nursing informatics at UVA Health.

The position follows a flexible Monday through Friday hybrid schedule, typically including two to three onsite days with the remaining time worked remotely based on business needs. There are no routine on-call responsibilities, although major implementations may occasionally require early morning, evening, or weekend support. Periodic travel to regional clinics and other UVA Health locations may also be needed.

The Role

As a Nurse Informaticist, you will serve as a trusted connection between frontline clinicians, nursing leaders, operational stakeholders, Epic teams, and Health IT colleagues. You will bring a nursing perspective to system design, workflow optimization, governance, implementation, and adoption, ensuring technology supports the realities of clinical practice.

Your work will span a large and complex health system, with an immediate opportunity to support growing project demand in perioperative services and other priority clinical areas.

This is an opportunity for an experienced informatics professional to work independently, develop strong stakeholder partnerships, and influence solutions at an enterprise level.

An Average Day May Include

• Evaluating current-state workflows, gathering clinical and operational requirements, and translating findings into practical technology recommendations.
• Analyzing and troubleshooting complex clinical system issues in partnership with clinicians, Epic teams, analysts, and Health IT colleagues.
• Supporting Epic upgrades, enhancement requests, workflow design, system optimization, and implementation planning.
• Participating in project meetings, design sessions, nursing governance, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Providing workflow consultation and collaborating with training teams, super users, and operational leaders to strengthen adoption.
• Delivering at-the-elbow support during major implementations and go-lives.
• Supporting clinical operations across the academic medical center, community locations, ambulatory clinics, and specialty service lines.
• Helping shape the structures, standards, and governance practices of a growing Nursing Informatics program.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited nursing program. Master's degree in informatics preferred.

Experience: 7 years relevant experience

Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Relevant certification preferred.

Job requires sitting for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly.

The pay range for this role is $93,156.00 - $186,311.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
