UVA Health’s pediatric critical care unit in Charlottesville seeks an experienced nurse to deliver high-acuity care for infants to adolescents in a 25-bed PICU. You will work with intensivists, APNs, respiratory therapists, and other teams to provide comprehensive care.

Minimum requirements include a BSN within 5 years of hire, 1 year of relevant experience, Virginia RN licensure, and AHA BLS certification. Relocation may be available for qualified candidates.

The Role:

In the 25‑bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), you will provide comprehensive, high acuity care to infants, children, and adolescents with complex and life-threatening conditions. This is a fast paced, highly collaborative environment where strong clinical judgment and adaptability are essential.

• Deliver direct, patient centered critical care utilizing advanced assessment and intervention skills
• Monitor and manage patients requiring ventilatory support, vasoactive infusions, and invasive hemodynamic monitoring

• Collaborate closely with intensivists, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary teams

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire.

Experience: 1 year of relevant experience.

Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $39.90 - $53.00 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
