Qualifications

  • Current NY RN license.
  • One year oncology or critical care experience; or three years medical-surgical in acute care.
  • In some cases, one year of med-surg experience with Roswell Park orientation to function independently after three months as Nurse II.

Responsibilities

  • Advanced assessment of patient's condition and planning/implementing care plans.
  • Provide advanced life support including ventilator support; assist physicians in procedures.
  • Monitor and record vitals and inputs/outputs hourly.
  • Ensure ventilators, monitors and medical equipment function properly.
  • Administer vasoactive/cardiac medications and order diagnostics.
  • Collaborate with critical care team and follow ICU protocols.
  • Act as patient advocate and provide education/support to families.
  • Care for medical and surgical patients, including immediate post-op.
  • Respond to rapid responses and emergencies across the campus.
  • Participate in end-of-life conversations with Palliative Care and Hospice teams.

For the night shift, there is an additional night shift differential of $6.50 per hour. The listed pay rate reflects the potential compensation for this role, and the actual offer may vary based on the candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.Qualifications:Required Education and ExperienceLicense RequirementLicense to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York.Education and Experience1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time oncology nursing experience; or2. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time critical care experience; or3. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting; or4. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing, the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time medical-surgical experience in an acute care setting and completion of Roswell Park nursing orientation with the ability to function independently at a satisfactory level for three (3) months (full-time) as a Nurse I at Roswell Park.NOTES:1. Incumbents will serve a one (1) year full-time probationary period as a Nurse II.2. Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.Preferred Qualifications:Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher, with strong preference given to those with advanced academic preparation. Oncology experience is highly valued, particularly in settings involving complex cancer care, treatment planning, and patient support. Experience in critical care or emergency department environments is also strongly preferred, as it demonstrates the ability to manage high-acuity patients and respond effectively in fast-paced clinical situations.
