Job summary

Rapides Regional Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, in Alexandria, LA, invites applications for a Nurse Extern PRN Telemetry Renal. You will gain hands-on nursing experience while exploring the RN role and delivering compassionate patient care within a supportive team.

You will work to develop clinical skills as you progress through your nursing program, with mentorship and growth opportunities across telemetry and renal units.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing (ADN or BSN) program.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) must be obtained within 30 days of start date.
• Preferred candidate to have completed foundational, fundamental, or Med Surg I clinical.

Responsibilities

• Assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, support mobility and comfort.
• Perform basic nursing tasks as you gain experience (wound care, catheter care, specimen collection).
• Document care accurately and communicate timely updates to the nursing team.
• Assist patients and families in understanding care plans and guidance for health and recovery.
• Maintain clean, safe patient areas following infection prevention practices.
• Engage in learning opportunities and collaborate with supervisor to develop your career plan.
