TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare, invites you to join as a Nurse Extern PRN in the Neuro/Ortho specialty. You’ll gain hands-on experience as you explore the Registered Nurse role while delivering compassionate care and building your confidence to take on more advanced tasks.

Responsibilities include helping with ADLs, taking vital signs, wound care, documentation, patient education, infection prevention, and collaborating with the team and your preceptor to develop

Qualifications

• BCLS must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• No travel required.

Responsabilités

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with activities of daily living (ADLs), checking vital signs, supporting mobility and comfort.
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens and other basic procedures as you gain experience.
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team.
• Helping patients and families understand care plans and guidance for health and recovery.
• Maintaining clean, safe patient areas by following infection prevention practices and organizing equipment.
• Partnering with your supervisor/preceptor to build your personal career development plan.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Nurse Extern, you’ll be a valued part of the nursing team, gaining hands-on experience as you explore the full scope of the Registered Nurse role. You’ll help deliver safe, compassionate care that improves patients’ lives while building the skills and confidence to take on more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competency
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment
• Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

What qualifications you will need:

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
