Job summary

HCA Florida Blake Hospital in Bradenton, FL is seeking a Nurse Extern PRN to join our compassionate nursing team. You will gain hands-on experience in the Registered Nurse role while delivering safe, patient-centered care under supervision.

You'll support ADLs, monitor vital signs, assist with basic procedures, and learn through structured growth plans with your preceptor. This role offers valuable exposure to a high-acuity environment and dedicated education opportunities.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
• Completed fundamentals of nursing required

Responsibilities

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs, checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene.
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competency.
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated.
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery.
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment.
• Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan.

Job Summary And Qualifications

As a Nurse Extern, you’ll be a valued part of the nursing team, gaining hands‑on experience as you explore the full scope of the Registered Nurse role.
