Banner Health is seeking a Nurse Extern for the Medical Surgical Progressive Care unit in Tucson. Under RN supervision, you will practice skills such as patient assessment, medication administration, IV adjustments, and data collection in the EMR.

This role supports a path toward your RN license with ongoing unit exposure and competency assessment. You must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program, within a year of graduation, and able to graduate on the anticipated date.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program and within 1 year of graduation.
• Must be able to graduate from an accredited nursing program on initial anticipated graduation date.
• Current BLS certification.
• Must be able to pass Nursing State Boards within 90 days after graduation or within 60 days for a second attempt.

Responsibilities

• Under the direct supervision of an RN preceptor, provide direct nursing care and assist with assessments, medications, IV pumps and basic data collection.
• Participate in care planning, documentation, and evaluation of patient status.
• Observe procedures, interact with the care team, and expand clinical skills through standardized competency assessments.
