Nacogdoches Medical Center, part of Tenet Healthcare, offers a Nurse Extern development program designed for RN students to build diverse clinical skills under guided supervision.

As a Nurse Extern, you will assist RN staff in patient care, participate in care planning, and report significant observations to a Registered Nurse, while pursuing your first clinical rotation and meeting state Board of Nursing scope requirements.

Qualifications

• Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited RN program (and upon completion of first clinical rotation).
• Experience: None required.
• Certifications: AHA BLS.

Job Summary

This is a developmental program for nursing students who want to develop multiple and varied clinical skills in a multiple nursing specialities. This position requires participation in a guided training and development program alinged to the scope outlines by the State-specific Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

The Nurse Extern role is designed to provide expanded clinical experience for RN nursing students and to assist the Registered Nursing staff by performing patient care activities, which includes participating in patient care planning, implementation, observation, and evaluation, as well as reporting significant observations toa Registered Nurse.
