Job summary

Reston Hospital Center is seeking a Nurse Extern PRN for the Emergency Department. You’ll gain hands-on experience while supporting the nursing team in providing safe, compassionate care. You’ll build skills to take on more advanced responsibilities as you progress through your nursing program.

You will assist with ADLs, vital signs, wound and catheter care, documentation, patient education, and infection control, under supervision, while developing your professional plan with your preceptor.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Must be Currently enrolled in an RN program

Responsibilities

• Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and patient comfort
• Perform nursing tasks such as wound care and catheter care under supervision
• Document care and communicate updates to the nursing team
• Explain care plans and provide guidance to patients and families
• Maintain clean, safe patient areas following infection prevention practices
• Engage in growth activities and develop a personal career plan with a supervisor
