Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare is seeking a Nurse extern to gain hands-on clinical experience under RN supervision. You will assist with activities of daily living and support patient safety while you advance your nursing education.

The role requires current enrollment in an accredited RN program, at least one clinical semester completed, and CPR/BLS. Flexible hours (approx. 32 hours per month); orientation during the first week.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited registered nursing program.
• Must have completed at least one clinical semester.
• Active American Heart Association CPR/BLS – Healthcare Provider card.
• Able to maintain flex requirements of 32 hours per month, with one weekend shift, and one major holiday in the summer and one major holiday in the winter.
• Acceptance of a Nurse Extern position requires completion of mandatory hospital orientation for a full week, Monday-Friday 8a-5p.

• Performs a variety of delegated basic patient care services under the supervision of the RN.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living and maintains a safe environment.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT

The Nurse extern role is designed to provide a learning opportunity for students by acquiring basic clinical skills and advancing their knowledge related to patient care.

Performs a variety of delegated basic patient care services under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN).

Responsible for assisting patients with activities of daily living and for maintaining an environment conducive to the patient's safety.
