Job summary

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center in Hartsville, SC, is seeking a Nurse Extern currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program. Under the supervision of a licensed RN in an acute care environment, you will gain hands-on clinical experience across inpatient units including medical-surgical, telemetry, and critical care.

You will assist with direct and indirect patient care, document findings, participate in team huddles, and support infection control and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a state-approved nursing program with clinical practicum.
• Currently in good standing with nursing education program.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist RN with nursing care using the nursing process and unit standards.
• Perform basic tasks: vital signs, bathing, feeding, ambulation, hygiene under RN supervision.
• Document findings and care per policy and RN oversight.
• Communicate with RN and care team about patient needs.
• Maintain a clean, safe patient care environment.
• Provide emotional support to patients and families while upholding professional boundaries.
• Follow infection control, patient safety, and privacy regulations.
• Participate in clinical learning opportunities and department huddles.
