Job summary

Angel Medical Center, part of Mission Health, in Franklin, North Carolina, is seeking a Nurse Extern on a PRN basis to join the nursing team. You’ll gain hands-on experience while exploring the Registered Nurse role and delivering safe, compassionate care to patients.

As you progress through your nursing program, you’ll perform basic nursing tasks, document care, and collaborate with the team to support patient recovery. This is an excellent stepping stone for your clinical career.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 7 days of employment start date.
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is required.
• Enrolled in an accredited nursing program.

Responsibilities

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs, checking vital signs, supporting mobility and hygiene.
• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens and other basic procedures as you gain experience.
• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team.
• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and guiding recovery.
• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by infection prevention, managing equipment and organizing spaces.
• Engaging in learning opportunities and building a personal career development plan with supervision.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing essential care for patients by helping with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), checking vital signs, supporting mobility, and ensuring comfort and hygiene


• Performing nursing tasks like wound care, catheter care, collecting specimens, and other basic procedures as you gain experience and grow in your competency


• Documenting care accurately and communicating timely updates with the nursing team to keep patient care seamless and coordinated


• Helping patients and families understand their care plans and offering guidance for their health and recovery


• Keeping patient areas clean and safe by following infection prevention practices, managing equipment, and maintaining an organized environment


• Championing your growth and enhancing patient care by engaging in learning opportunities, sharing ideas to improve care, and partnering with your supervisor or preceptor to build your personal career development plan

What qualifications you will need:
