The Nurse Educator coordinates formal and informal continuing education, supports orientation, and champions patient safety. This position covers adolescent to geriatric populations within NGHS and collaborates with governance and Quality

Qualifications

• Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia.
• Professional certification in clinical or education specialty within 2 years of hire.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing; ADN must obtain BSN within two years of hire.
• Minimum 3 years direct care RN experience with at least 1 year in an acute care facility.
• Previous staff development and education experience.
• Relevant unit-specific clinical experience.
• Professional organization membership within 1 month of hire.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the nursing process to assess, plan and evaluate patient care.
• Guides students and staff in the development and implementation of a interdivisional plan of care.
• Performs assessments and makes recommendations regarding nursing care of patients with complex needs.
• Promotes discharge planning through collaboration with Case Management.
• Serves as a liaison between patients/families, physicians, and other health care members.
• Assists with clinical pathways development and adherence.
• Evaluates teaching effectiveness and revises training plans as needed.
• Mentors nursing staff and supports orientation activities.
