Mercy Hospital Nurse educator role at Catholic Health in New York seeks an RN to lead educational initiatives and oversee clinical development for new graduates. You will act as a consultant to nursing staff, ensuring policy adherence and evidence-based practice, while guiding competency assessments and teaching activities.

The ideal candidate holds a BSN with NY RN licensure, ACLS/BLS, and strong communication.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (BSN). Masters in Nursing preferred (APRN- Nurse Practitioner or Nurse Educator).
NYS RN License required.
Excellent communication skills- verbal and written.
Ability to relate effectively to patients, families, and staff.
Demonstrates and promotes service excellence at all times.
Current ACLS and BLS required.

Responsibilities

Serves as a consultant/resource to nursing staff in interpreting policy/procedure standards and evidence-based practices of nursing care.
Clinical oversight and safe development of the new hires and assist with the transition of the newly licensed graduates into nursing practice.
Meets regularly with orientees and preceptors.
Confers with Director of Nursing Education regarding the competency of new hires.
Provides teaching instructions to staff members while assessing and evaluating staff competency.
Collaborates with the health care team to provide safe and high quality patient care.
