Job summary

AHRC Nassau in Plainview, NY, seeks a Nurse Educator to design and deliver education programs for agency staff and ensure health-related compliance.

Responsibilities include scheduling trainings, AMAP/recertification, infection control, and Mantoux testing, with supervision of RN trainers and ongoing material development.

Qualifications

• NYS RN licensure is required.
• Valid NYS Driver’s License is required.
• Strong public speaking abilities and experience are required.
• Experience supervising RN trainers is required.
• Experience in Intellectual Disability/Developmentally Disabled settings preferred.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Office and virtual platforms (Teams/Zoom) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and facilitate agency-wide medical trainings.
• Educate staff on required medical topics (AMAP, Tubes, Infection Control, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogen Education, TB, OPWDD Diabetes Education, Colostomy training).
• Develop and update training materials per AHRC Nassau and OPWDD regulations.
• Administer and read Mantoux tests; manage staffing for testing hours and inventory.
• Liaise with Learning and Professional Development and external entities for training assignments.

Salary Range: $85K - $95K/yr

Full-Time: 35 hours (flex to include evening and weekends)

In addition, you will:

• Schedule and facilitate agency-wide medical trainings.
• Educate agency staff on required medical and health-related topics, including AMAP Training, AMAP Recertification, Tube Feeding, Infection Control, First Aid & Seizure Training, Bloodborne Pathogen Education, Tuberculosis, OPWDD Diabetes Education, and Colostomy Bag Training
• Develop and update training materials in accordance with AHRC Nassau, Citizens Options Unlimited, Inc., and OPWDD regulations.
• Administer and read Mantoux (PPD) tests. Ensures appropriate staffing during all PPD testing hours and maintains adequate inventory of PPD serum and needles, ensuring proper storage and disposal.
• Serve as a liaison between the Learning and Professional Development Department and external entities regarding medical training assignments for the workforce.

We require:

• NYS Registered Nurse Licensure
• Valid NYS Driver’s License
• Strong public speaking abilities/experience
• Supervisory experience managing RN trainers
• Experience working in the field of Intellectual Disability/Development Disability preferred
• Teaching experience strongly preferred
• Proficiency in utilizing all MS Office Suite applications and virtual platforms i.e., Teams, Zoom
