Job summary

Ohio State University Hospital is seeking a Nurse Educator (NPDP) to lead nursing professional development in the Critical Care unit within the Health System Shared Services. The role focuses on education, competency development, and implementing new practices to improve patient outcomes.

The NPD practitioner partners with leaders and caregivers to advance professional development, promote evidence-based practice, and support transition of new products and processes in a dynamic university

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Nursing or BSN with masters in related field (i.e. MHA, Nursing Education, etc.).
• Two years of nursing experience is required.
• Current Ohio RN license required.

Job Title: Nurse Educator (NPDP) - Critical Care Department: Health System Shared Services | HS Nursing Enterprise Leadership Scope of Position: The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) practitioner provides ongoing and constant support to the transforming healthcare landscape.

The NPD practitioner functions as a nurse leader in an interprofessional environment applying evidenced based practice, clinical expertise, and patient values to improve patient outcomes.

The NPD practitioner engages in environmental scanning to continuously assess potential professional practice gaps.

By using various sources of data, the NPD practitioner identifies learning needs that include but are not limited to emerging issues, new or updated evidenced based guidelines, comparison of current performance and/or outcomes with national data bases and use of new tools and techniques.

The NPD practitioner demonstrates expertise in the identified roles: learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's Degree in Nursing or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing AND masters in related field (i.e. MHA, Nursing Education, etc.). Two years of nursing experience is required. Current Ohio RN license required.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong leadership skills, effective communication, problem-solving, and strong organizational skills Interest in learning and teaching new skills Recent teaching experience through employment or community activities Experience with, commitment to, and competence in dealing with diverse adult populations Strong facilitation and presentation skills Inpatient critical care experience strongly preferred.

Additional Information

This role supports enterprise-wide educational initiatives with a primary focus on Critical Care services within the University Hospital (UH) Critical Care Tower. Responsibilities include onboarding and mentoring new staff, promoting ongoing competency development, and supporting the implementation of new products, processes, and clinical practices. This position partners with leaders and frontline caregivers to advance professional development and ensure high-quality patient care through effective education and training programs.
