Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services in Austin, TX is seeking a Nurse Educator (Nurse III Nurse Educator) to lead the Nursing Education Program at the SSLC. You will orient nurses, ensure competency, and contribute to professional nursing practice with oversight from the Chief Nurse Executive.

The role requires CPR certification, RN licensure in Texas, and experience in nursing education. This is a full-time, exempt position with day shifts and limited telework.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience as a practicing registered nurse.
• Two years preferred in a health agency, hospital, or health-care facility.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Two years of nursing supervisory/administrative experience preferred.
• Experience with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly and may work a specific shift schedule, including overtime.
• Orients new nursing staff to facility protocols and procedures.
• Keeps current on nursing philosophy, techniques, and regulations and shares this knowledge.
• Evaluates and ensures nursing staff competency for quality care.
• Interprets regulations and assists in updating nursing guidelines and policies.
• Works independently with staff at all levels and coordinates nursing education.
