Job summary

HCA Healthcare, a leading healthcare system, seeks an experienced Nursing Education Specialist to develop and coordinate onboarding and orientation for nursing and other personnel. You will enhance retention, collaborate with the Clinical Professional Development leadership, and drive competency evaluation across facilities.

The role focuses on designing educational activities to close knowledge gaps, promoting lifelong learning, and fostering EBP and quality improvement in patient care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing is required.
• Master's degree in nursing preferred.
• 2+ years in clinical education, CSC, academia or leadership preferred.
• 2+ years in acute care hospital preferred.
• Currently licensed as an RN in the state of practice or has an active compact state license required.
• Nationally Recognized Specialty certification preferred.
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) required.
• Ability to Travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Participates in development, coordination, managing, facilitating, conducting, and evaluating onboarding and orientation programs for nursing and other healthcare personnel.
• Provides orientation/onboarding programs to promote employee retention.
• Collaborates with the Director of Clinical Professional Development to adjust the program based on evaluation results.
• Participates in development, coordination, and management of facilitating, conducting, and evaluating competency.
• Designs and identifies educational activities to address practice gaps for identified target audiences, including licensed and non-licensed personnel, in alignment with HCA and division clinical education processes.
• Develops activities to achieve outcomes related to deficits or opportunities for improvement in knowledge, skill and practice.
• Promotes and integrates evidence-based practice (EBP) to continually improve care; conducts research, EBP and QI in patient care settings.
• Identifies strategies to foster lifelong learning and maturation of staff.
• Uses the novice-to-expert continuum when developing staff and provides opportunities for skill enhancement.

Job Summary And Qualifications

In this role you will:

• Promotes and integrates the EBP in order to continuously improve practice. Conducts, encourages, facilitates, and/or participates in research, EBP, and QI in patient care settings.
• Identifies and develops strategies to facilitate a continuous process of maturation through lifelong learning.
• Utilizes novice-to-expert continuum when developing staff. Identifies and provides opportunities for skill enhancement and mastery.

What experience and education is needed for this role:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing Required
• Master's degree in nursing Preferred
• 2+ years of experience in clinical education, CSC, academia or leadership. Preferred
• 2+ years of experience in acute care hospital. Preferred
• Currently licensed as an RN in the state of practice or has an active compact state license in accordance with law and regulation Required
• Nationally Recognized Specialty certification Preferred
• Basic Life Saving (BLS) Required
• Ability to Travel up to 25%
