Work Schedule: varies with nurse education hours and scheduled shifts on unit

POSITION SUMMARY

The Nurse Educator provides clinical staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, leader, and researcher. The role supports the development of bedside nurses and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence via evidence-based nursing practice. Responsibilities include assessing, developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating competency assessments, continuing education, and leadership development. As a professional role model, the Nurse Educator helps create a positive nursing climate within Trinity Health System to meet the needs of diverse units and the broader healthcare community. Physical activity requirements include the ability to move or lift at least 50 pounds. Travel may be necessary for collaboration across the care system.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current or temporary RN license in ND or a compact RN license.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required within the orientation period. Additional certifications may be required based on the specific unit, e.g., NRP for NICU Nurse Educators.
  • BLS and ACLS Instructor certifications are preferred.

Educational Requirements

  • RN licensure is required; BSN and/or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Non-BSN applicants must complete their BSN within the first 3 years of employment.
  • Official diploma or transcripts from the educational institution where the degree was obtained.

Experience Requirements

  • At least 3 years of clinical experience as an RN in a healthcare setting or as a Nurse Educator or Instructor, with a minimum of one year in the specific area of application.
  • A Master’s Degree in Nursing may substitute for 2 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of audiovisual equipment setup is advantageous.
