Job summary

The hospital system in Detroit is seeking a Director of the Emergency Department to lead clinical practice, quality, staffing and financial operations across nursing and allied departments.

The role reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and emphasizes staff development, patient safety, policy implementation, and regulatory compliance. Requires a Master’s degree in Nursing or related field, Michigan RN license, and 5+ years of progressive leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree required in Nursing, Business, Health Care Administration or related field. Of two degrees one must be in Nursing.

Responsible for nursing staffing, resource recruitment and staff development. Promotes advanced nursing practice and career development opportunities for staff through leadership, educational opportunities and advancement incentives. Ensures the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and nursing standards in accordance with hospital standards of care, government and licensing requirements.

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree Required in Nursing, Business, Health Care Administration or related field. Of two degrees one must be in Nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan. Current certification in a related nursing specialty, preferred. Certification required within one year of hire.
• 5+ years of experience which may be concurrent clinical and/or progressively more responsible management experience.
