Qualifications
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing school
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (minimum)
  • Master's Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Ohio
  • BLS/ACLS/PALS as per department needs

Hours: 24 hours/week

Responsibilities

The Nurse Clinician coordinates patient care, utilizing the nursing process to assess needs, evaluate outcomes, and prevent issues. Acts as an expert, educator, and consultant to patients and staff.

  • Communicates appropriately with patients and populations
  • Knows growth and development milestones
  • Provides clear instructions to patients/families, involving them in care decisions
  • Identifies physical and psychological patient needs, responding accordingly
  • Performs treatments, administers medications, and operates equipment safely
  • Recognizes signs of abuse or neglect and responds appropriately

Practice and Continuum of Care:

  • Provides expert clinical care within the specialty
  • Uses the nursing process for direct care and supports assessment, planning, and evaluation
  • Participates in committees and policy development
  • Promotes organizational goals and confidentiality
  • Supports evidence-based practice and performance improvement
  • Acts as liaison and organizer for interdepartmental projects
  • Demonstrates accountability and responsibility in patient care

Education:

  • Identifies educational needs of patients and staff
  • Develops and delivers educational programs and serves as a preceptor
  • Participates in orientation and ongoing education

Consultation:

  • Participates in patient rounds and promotes continuity of care
  • Works closely with medical directors and nurse managers
  • Serves as a resource and participates in community health activities

Research:

  • Assists in research and quality assurance activities
  • Disseminates research findings and stays current with literature
  • Collaborates on research projects and promotes cost-effective resource use
