Job summary

Erie County Medical Center Corporation in Buffalo, NY seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse to coordinate nursing care from admission to discharge. Under supervision, you will assess patients, develop and implement care plans, and support physicians during exams, tests, and treatments.

You will administer medications, educate patients and families, and contribute to discharge planning while upholding standards of nursing practice.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current NYS RN license or eligibility for Limited Permit.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work under supervision and in team-based care.

Responsibilities

• Performs physical, psychological, and social assessment of patients.
• Develops and implements written nursing care plans based on assessments.
• Works directly under physicians, assisting during exams, diagnostic testing and treatments.
• Administers medications, including intravenous therapy; reports adverse reactions to medications.
• Establishes care priorities based on patient problems.
• Communicates pertinent patient information to the physician and other members of the health care team.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of care delivered; updates care plan as indicated.
• Records vital signs and documents care given.
• Develops and implements a discharge plan for patients.
• Provides patients and their families with health teaching.
• Participates in nursing committees and related research programs.
• Performs tasks normally delegated to lower ranking nursing department employees, as directed.
