Responsibilities
  • Review medical records to ensure proper coding of assigned specialties within the healthcare system
  • Serve as a liaison to provide accurate information and guidance on coding and Medicare/Medicaid policies
  • Develop payor or Recovery Audit Contractors (RAC) appeals correspondence materials
  • Collaborate with physicians, allied providers, managers, and staff to resolve coding issues
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of surgical and medical procedures relevant to coding
Qualifications
  • Must be a Wisconsin resident
  • Minimum educational requirement: Nursing diploma or Associate’s degree in nursing
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a medical setting or medical business office
  • Registered Nurse license awarded by the State of Wisconsin
  • Coding certification from an approved organization must be obtained within three years of hire
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CPT, ICD-9/ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
  • Current coding certification at the time of hire from an approved organization
  • Familiarity with Inter-qual criteria
