Job summary

Corewell Health is seeking a full-time Observer on 3 North PCU in Troy. The role includes constant observation duties, safe patient transport, and bedside care under RN direction.

The unit emphasizes compassionate care, teamwork, and high-quality documentation in the EMR. Orientation is a full week, with a 7:00 AM–3:30 PM schedule and a 36-hour work week.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire.
• Current CNA certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
• Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and documentation of services.
• Provides Observer services for patients requiring constant observation, in person or via remote video monitoring.
• Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate unit functioning and documents care in the electronic medical record.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

BLS certification (AHA/Red Cross)

3 North PCU is a step-down unit that takes care of a variety of patients requiring telemetry monitoring. Scope of work

Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services. Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety. Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit. Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.

Orientation

This position requires a full week of corporate orientation. The schedule is Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. You will be required to attend the entire week consecutively.
