Job summary

McLaren Health Care seeks a Patient Care Associate/Nurse Assistant for the 8 W Medical Surgical unit in Pontiac. You will assist licensed nurses with daily patient care, hygiene, mobility, and comfort, while maintaining safety and HIPAA compliance.

Evening and night hours, full-time schedule, and on-site work are required. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a medical careers program or enrollment in nursing school, or related experience, plus BLS

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Formal education or training in a medical careers program OR enrollment in nursing school OR two+ years’ experience in a Patient Care Associate/Nurse Assistant role.
• BLS certification from AHA/ARC/Canadian equivalent required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date.

Responsibilities

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN to support treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Assists with daily activities and personal hygiene (bathing, feeding, dressing, mobility, toileting, walking).
• Ensures compliance with health care regulations (HIPAA/OSHA).
• Maintains safe and clean environment and follows infection-control policies.

Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of a Nurse, contributes to the delivery of patient-centered care through: Performance of selected day-to-day patient care activities. Maintenance of an environment that is functionally and aesthetically conducive to patient well-being. Demonstrates unit/area-designated competencies. Interacts with patients considering their developmental, age-specific, and cultural spiritual preferences.

Responsibilities:

• Performs specific patient care interventions as delegated by the RN in effort to identify/attain treatment goals.
• Delivers compassionate support, attention, and assistance to patients and families.
• Provides physical support for patients with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, showering, feeding, dressing, getting out of bed, using the toilet, walking, standing or exercising.
• Ensures compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment and protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control, hazardous waste and other policies and protocols.
• Performs other related job duties as requested.

Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Formal education or training in a medical careers program OR enrollment in nursing school OR two or more years’ experience in a Patient Care Associate/Nurse Assistant role
• BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), or Canadian equivalent, is required before start date and valid at least 60 days beyond start date

Preferred:

• One year prior work experience in a patient care environment
