Nurse Assistant II, Intermediate Care Unit, Full-time 12 hr. Nights, Winston-Salem

Job Summary

Provides assistance to the nursing staff by rendering specific treatments and basic nursing care to assigned patients. Follows physician and nursing orders to achieve high standards of age/developmental specific care.


Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED. Completion of a North Carolina Board of Nursing approved Nurse Aide II course or nursing student listed as a Nurse Aide II.


Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration

North Carolina Board of Nursing listing as a Nurse Aide II. Registered as a Nurse Aide I with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service Regulation. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCSL) required.


Essential Functions
  1. Participates in implementing the nursing process by providing direct care under the RN's supervision. Assists with admissions, transfers, discharges, and pre/post-operative care.
  2. Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment, promoting fall precautions and safety measures.
  3. Ensures effective communication of patient information.
  4. Performs special procedures correctly under RN supervision.
  5. Communicates professionally with team members, patients, and families.
  6. Assumes responsibility for personal performance and professional growth.
  7. Provides age/developmental appropriate care according to guidelines.

Work Environment

Contact with patients and families, potential exposure to infections, chemicals, and radiation, use of PPE, subject to interruptions and irregular hours.


Physical Requirements

Activities include standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing, and lifting up to 100 lbs.
