Job description

Nurse Assistant - ICU - Full Time - Days - Wyandotte

Schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation

Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (3x12 hours shifts)

As a Nurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with essential patient care tasks and actively contribute to a positive patient experience.

ABOUT OUR UNIT:

Intensive Care Unit- is an 18-bed mixed medical-surgical intensive care unit. The population consists of patients with multiple and complex medical diagnoses including but not limited to DKA, Respiratory Failure, Post-Cardiac Arrest, post-cardiac catheterization with interventions, sepsis, stroke/tPA, surgical procedures requiring q1h monitoring or lifesaving interventions. Our nurses are trained in caring for patients with balloon-pumps and Impella devices. RN utilize the hypothermic protocol in post-arrest patients. It is a great place to grow your knowledge and clinical skills. The RN staff will attend the Critical Care orientation class. ACLS certification is mandatory within ONE YEAR of employment.

  • Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chemsticks.
  • Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN.
  • Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
To qualify, you'll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following:

  • Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary: Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)).
  • Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing.
  • Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license
  • Medical Assistant program (with or without experience).
  • At least one (1) year of experience in an Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role.
  • Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment.
  • Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
