Position: Nurse Assistant I, Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, Full-time 12 hr. Nights, Winston-Salem

Job Summary:

Provides assistance to the nursing staff by rendering specific treatments and basic nursing care to assigned patients. Delivers direct and indirect care following physician and nursing orders to achieve the highest standards of age/developmental specific care.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED equivalent
• Completion of a North Carolina State Approved Nurse Aide I course
• Experience preferred

Licensure and Certification:

• Listed with the N.C. Board of Nursing as a Level I Nurse Aide required
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required

Essential Functions:

1. Participates in the implementation of the nursing process by giving direct care under the RN's supervision.
2. Performs special procedures correctly under RN guidance.
3. Creates and maintains a safe, therapeutic environment.
4. Ensures accurate and timely communication of patient information.
5. Communicates effectively and professionally with team members, patients, and families.
6. Assumes responsibility for professional growth and performance.
7. Provides age/developmental appropriate patient care according to guidelines.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

Contact with patients and staff, exposure to blood-borne and infectious diseases, potential for stressful situations, occasional exposure to chemicals, use of PPE, physical activities include standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
