Job summary

Kettering Health Main Campus is hiring a Health Unit Coordinator/Nursing Assistant (HUC NA) to join the patient care team on the Night 12 Hour Shift. This full-time role blends HUC duties with nursing assistant responsibilities and requires CPR/BLS certification.

The HUC NA will assist with activities of daily living, coordinate daily unit operations, and manage patient records while liaising with nursing staff and physicians. Training at KH is mandated on hire.

Qualifications

• KH Health Coordinator training upon hire into role.
• KH Nursing Assistant Orientation upon hire into role.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Must have one of the following: six months experience as a nursing assistant in a hospital or a long-term care facility; completion of Nursing Assistant course in the last six months; nursing student or pre-nursing on transcripts; current KH employee.

Responsibilities

• The HUC NA has a dual focus, combining Health Unit Coordinator and Nursing Assistant roles as a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team.
• The HUC NA supports patients with activities of daily living and performs patient care skills as delegated by the licensed nurse within the Ohio Board of Nursing Scope of Practice.
• The HUC NA collaborates with unit leadership to coordinate day-to-day patient care unit activities, processes patient records, and communicates with nursing staff, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel; serves as a resource for physicians and the EMR.
• The HUC NA maintains knowledge, skill, and ability for delegated tasks, supports department operations, and performs other duties as assigned.
• The HUC NA reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

• The HUC NA supports patients with activities of daily living and performs patient care skills as delegated by the licensed nurse within the Ohio Board of Nursing Scope of Practice.
• The HUC NA also collaborates with unit leadership in coordinating the day-to-day activities of the patient care unit. This includes the processing of patient records and ongoing communication with nursing staff, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel. The HUC NA serves as a resource for physicians and other members of the health care team for the electronic medical record.
• The HUC NA is responsible for maintaining and demonstrating knowledge, skill, and ability of the delegated tasks. The HUC NA also supports department operational needs, and performs other duties as assigned.
• The HUC NA reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Qualifications

Applicants Must Have:

• Successful completion of KH Health Coordinator training upon hire into role
• Successful completion of KH Nursing Assistant Orientation upon hire into role
• Certification in CPR/BLS
• Must have one of the following:
• Six months experience as a nursing assistant in a hospital or a long-term care facility
• Completion of Nursing Assistant course in the last six months
• Nursing student or listed as pre-nursing as shown on transcripts
• Current employee with Kettering Health
